Leiko Saki. Bedroom Nightstand. August 07th , 2017.
A console table is a versatile piece of furniture that can be useful in many rooms of the house. It's slim in profile and airy in design, and can provide a small drawer for storage of personal items. In the bedroom, a console table can pull double duty as a nightstand and desk, or a nightstand and vanity, thanks to the open space that allows you to place a stool, ottoman or chair underneath. Console tables, seen here, frame a bed nicely when the same or similar style is placed on either side of the bed. Tip: If you aren't pairing matching tables, be sure the other night table is at least the height of the bed and of a similar width as the console table.
A styled nightstand makes your bedroom look complete. Keep only essential items here, such as a lamp, clock and book, and decorative details, like a dish, to hold your jewelry or a memento. Keep this area clean and dust-free, as you don't want to wake up to a mess or breathe in allergens while you sleep. The interior style of your bedroom should guide you in your choice of bedside items. A coastal-inspired bedroom could have lush green tropical leaves in a glass bottle on top of a stack of books and a maritime-inspired clock, for example. Boho bedrooms might feature a small arrangement of brightly colored flowers and a string of beads. Just don't be overly obvious in your approach to themes.
Cozy rustic. Raw, unfinished wood is key to this look, but you don't need to splurge on a big piece to make it work. Use a plain wood slice (find it in a crafts store) as a tray to hold bedside necessities, repurpose a wood stump as a table or bring in a few rustic wooden boxes as bedroom storage. Create warmth with cozy patchwork quilts, wool blankets and faux fur pillows — and if you have a pair of cowboy boots, be sure to leave them out on display.
A nice way to mix and match furnishings is to unify them with a common hue. In this space, the lamps differ in height and style, but the color green is what allows them to "speak" to each other. On either side of this bed, you'll see that the nightstands and artwork are different. However, equity is created because the height on both sides is the same. This type of symmetry is not always necessary, but visual balance does help to make a room feel more comfortable for some people.
